While our primary focus is on art installation, we can recommend trusted partners for framing services. We believe in collaborating with experts to provide you with comprehensive solutions.

Q5. Is blkarts.ca available for both residential and commercial projects?

Absolutely. Our services cater to both residential and commercial clients. Whether you're curating a home gallery or transforming an office space, we bring the same level of expertise to every project.

Q6. How do I request a quote?

Visit our Contact page and fill out the form with details about your project. We'll get back to you within 24 hours with a customized quote. For larger or more complex projects, please reach out as far in advance as possible.

Q7. What should I have ready before requesting a quote?

The more detail you can provide, the more accurate your quote will be. Helpful information includes:

•A count of the total number of pieces

•Approximate dimensions and weight of each item (especially mirrors)

•Whether anything is heavy enough to require two technicians

•Whether anything is going above 8 ft, in a stairwell, or a hard-to-reach area

•Your preferred date or timeframe

•Whether you need hardware supplied or are providing your own

•For mirrors: whether the item is already on-site or requires pickup

Q8. Is blkarts.ca available for projects outside Calgary?

Yes. Our regular service area is Calgary, Alberta, and we travel throughout Southern Alberta — Airdrie, Okotoks, Canmore, Banff, Red Deer, and more. For jobs outside Calgary city limits, one-way travel time is billed at the standard crew rate (fuel included) for trips up to 2 hours one-way. For locations more than 2 hours away, contact us for a custom quote — we'll factor in the full scope of the trip. All out-of-city work is subject to travel charges, and out-of-town bookings require a 50% deposit.

Q9. Do you require a deposit?

A 50% deposit is required to confirm bookings on jobs estimated over $1,500 (before GST), and on all out-of-town work regardless of project size. The deposit is collected via a secure credit card payment link and is applied to your final invoice.

Q10. What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before your scheduled start incur no fee. Cancellations within 48 hours are subject to a re-booking fee equal to the 1-hour minimum charge for the crew booked. For jobs where a deposit was collected, the deposit is forfeited on cancellation — or it rolls forward to a new date if you choose to re-book.

Q11. Do you charge more on weekends or holidays?

Yes. Weekend work (Saturdays and Sundays) is billed at 1.5x the standard rate. Canadian statutory holidays are billed at 2x the standard rate. This applies to all crew tiers.

Q12. Can you assist with lighting recommendations for my art collection?

Yes — we understand the importance of proper lighting. While our primary focus is on installation, we can provide basic recommendations and adjust lights where possible. Q14. Can blkarts.ca assist with sculptures and 3D art pieces?

Absolutely. Our expertise extends beyond traditional 2D art. We have experience handling and installing sculptures and various three-dimensional art forms to enhance your space creatively.

Q15. Why do I need my own insurance?

blkarts.ca is a handling, storage, and installation company — not an insurance company. Our role is to move, install, and store artwork with professional care, but we do not insure the full market value of your pieces. Because artwork values can be very high and vary from client to client, each client must carry their own "all-risk" insurance that covers the full value of their artwork while it is in transit to us, stored with us, and being delivered or installed. If something unexpected happens — fire, flood, theft, accident, or damage in transit — your own policy is what is intended to make you whole. Please read more on our Terms & Conditions page.

Q16. Why is art storage priced by volume?

Our art storage is priced based on the actual volume your work occupies in our climate controlled space. The $100/month minimum applies to your entire storage order — not per piece — so whether you're storing one small canvas or several works, the minimum covers the whole booking.

Q17. How do you calculate the monthly storage cost?

We use a simple three-step formula:

1.Measure in inches: Height x Width x Depth = volume in cubic inches

2.Divide by 1,728 to convert to cubic feet

3.Multiply cubic feet x $10.00 = your monthly rate

The $100/month minimum applies to your total order, not per item. Example: if your pieces add up to 5 cubic feet, the rate would be $50.00 — but the minimum brings it to $100.00/month. All rates + GST (5%).
