A: Yes, we understand the importance of proper lighting. While our primary focus is on installation, we can provide basic recommendations and adjust lights where possible. A: Currently, our regular service area is Calgary, Alberta, but we also travel around Southern Alberta to places like Airdrie, Okotoks, Red Deer, Strathmore, Canmore and Banff, etc. If you have a unique project outside our home service area, feel free to reach out, and we'll explore the possibilities together. Travel charges may apply.

9. Q: How much experience does blkarts.ca have in the art installation industry?

A: 2 decades + with a background in framing, museum work, gallery work and years managing installation projects, we bring a wealth of experience to every project. Our journey in the art world is the foundation of our expertise.

10. Q: Can blkarts.ca assist with the installation of sculptures and 3D art pieces?

A: Absolutely! Our expertise extends beyond traditional 2D art. We have experience handling and installing sculptures and various three-dimensional art forms to enhance your space creatively.

11. Q: Why do I need my own insurance?

blkarts.ca is a handling, storage and installation company, not an insurance company. Our role is to move, install, and store artwork with professional care, but we do not insure the full market value of your pieces. Because artwork values can be very high and vary from client to client, each client must carry their own “all‑risk” insurance that covers the full value of their artwork while it is in transit to us, stored with us, and being delivered or installed.

If something unexpected happens – for example, fire, flood, theft, accident, or damage in transit – your own policy is what is intended to make you whole. Our contractual limits are designed to align with our own business insurance and provide only a limited contribution toward a loss, not a replacement for your personal or business art insurance.

12. Q: What should I consider before scheduling an art installation with blkarts.ca?

A: Before scheduling, consider the specific pieces you want to install, their dimensions, and your preferred placement.

It’s also really important to know:

  • A count of total # of pieces helps know approximately how much time we’ll require onsite

  • if anything is heavy enough to require 2 technicians

  • or being installed at a height above 8ft

  • or is going up in hard to reach area like a stairwell

  • or oversized pieces requiring special handling, etc

Having this information ready will help us provide you with a more accurate quote and efficient service.

13. Q: Why is art storage priced this way?

A: Our art storage is priced based on the actual volume your work occupies in our climate controlled space, with a minimum charge of $100 per month. This lets us fairly price everything from a single small piece to a very large crate.

14. Q: How do you calculate the monthly storage cost?

A: We use a simple three‑step formula:

  1. Measure your artwork or crate in inches: height x width x depth = volume (inches).

  2. Convert to cubic feet: volume (inches) ÷ 1728 = volume (feet).

  3. Calculate the monthly rate: volume (feet) x $10.00 = cost per month, subject to a minimum charge of $100 per month.

For example, if the art work or crate works out to 5 cubic feet, the storage cost would be 5 x $10.00 = $50.00, but because of our minimum, the monthly charge would be $100.
